Here I share my two step process that I successfully use to improve top speed mechanics with my athletes. This had led to faster times and decreased injury rates.
Step 1: Realign the joint to restore muscle extensibility (flexibility) and joint motion by releasing and stretching the hip flexors and adductors (inner thigh/groin muscles).
Step2: Reconnect the joint to rest of the body’s segments by “feeding” the joint stability, in this case the pelvis and lumbar spine.
Teaching the body how to engage the glutes, abdominals and lats reinforces a torso stability which is the precursor for expressing speed and explosive strength.
